Kiwanis Service Project This Week

Good Monday morning!

As you know we won’t be meeting at lunch time today - this is March Service Project Week.  So, we’ll be gathering on Thursday afternoon, March 25, at 2:15 p.m at Eastway Elementary School at 610 N. Alston Avenue.   It’s on the corner at Alston and Taylor Street.   Our time packing food into backpacks for the 50 kids who get the packs for the weekend should take no longer than an hour.

If you are going to participate, please arrive at the school just before 2:15.  I think the best place to park is on the street in front of the school.  Go into the main door of the school and walk past the office into the cafeteria.  There will be a volunteer sign-in sheet in the cafeteria.  After we set up for packing the backpacks, we will pack them and then deliver them to the classrooms.  Putting things away and taking cardboard to the recycling container will take just a few minutes.

I would like to know how many Kiwanians are going to be there.  Please let me know if you plan to participate by a reply email.

If you want to learn more about Eastway, you can go to their web site at http://www.eastway.dpsnc.net/

THANKS!

Barbara

P.S. Happy Birthday, Ken.

Meeting Notes - Dec 21, 2009

Announcements

Happy Holidays to everyone! Remember there is no meeting next week (28th), and we meet here at TROSA again on the January 4th.

Please keep all our under-the-weather members and friends in your thoughts: Linwood Tew, Ruth Basemore, Carlton Harrell, and Brian Bishop.

Thanks to all the Bell Ringers — it was reported that the bucket was crammed full by the end of the day! Some folks braved the wintry-icy roads — what dedication!

Barb reports that we have great service projects lined up for Feb (adopt a canteen at Red Cross) and March (packing backpacks).  Please forward any ideas for January.

Pat Reported on district level meetings

Barbara reports on backpack packing coming up on March 25

Walt reports on pancakes.  There are still a few dollars coming in as of this morning.  So far we have gross revenue of $12638.  That’s gross, not net.   Still, it’s awesome!  Walt asks us to please get outstanding funds in so we can close out the accounting.

Happy Dollars
Welcome back to Homer — his wife doing well.  Yea!
Joe Basemore has a dollar for only 1 butter patty on the floor at the Pancake sale.
We missed Linwood this week, and encourage everyone to give him a call.
