Biweekly luncheons to begin in January

The following proposal was passed by the club at last week’s meeting:

Proposal:  Amend Article XI of the club bylaws changing from weekly meetings to two scheduled meetings per month.

This change was motivated by the desire to reduce club dues.  Consequently, quarterly dues will be reduced beginning in January 2010.

A lot of compromise went into this decision, and it says a lot for our members that they are willing to put the club before themselves to secure its mission and well-being.

Club activities will be arranged to give everyone an opportunity to continue meeting once a week.  On weeks when there is no formal luncheon, the board will meet at lunchtime on Monday (open to all), or there will be a service project.

Here are the meeting dates for the first quarter of 2010:

Jan.
1/4/10 – club meeting
1/11/10 – board meeting
1/18/10 – Holiday – service project this week
1/25/10 – club meeting

Feb.
2/1/10 – club meeting
2/8/10 – board meeting
2/15/10 – Holiday – service project this week
2/22/10 – club meeting

Mar.
3/1/10 – club meeting
3/8/10 – board meeting
3/15/10 – club meeting
3/22/10 – service project this week

The time for debate and compromise is past.  Now is the time to move forward towards making our club stronger in both community and service.
