Picnic Postponed, Lunch Meeting on Mon, 21st

Our Spring picnic has been postponed because many members could not attend that evening. It will be rescheduled within the next month or so.

Since there is no picnic, we WILL BE HAVING LUNCH at TROSA on Monday 21st. Wendell has arranged for a speaker from Duke Gardens to update us on happenings there.

Kiwanis Picnic Next Monday, May 21

Those of us who went to the Ronald McDonald House to serve dinner last Tuesday had a great time. We visited with several families who have children being treated at Duke and left plenty of fried chicken and salads in the refrigerator for those who would return from the hospital later in the evening. It was good to see the progress being made on the much-needed addition to the house.

I’m looking forward to some social time with you and your guests next week.

We will be gathering at Margie’s home at 4908 Kerley Road for an outdoor picnic at about 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21. The picnic food will be catered, so you only need to bring lawn chairs for you and your guests and whatever you want to drink (iced tea and lemonade will be provided).

I’ll bring our corn hole game and if any others of you have outdoor games you want to bring, please do.

THE PICNIC WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF OUR MONDAY, MAY 21 LUNCH TIME MEETING.

I need to know (for the food count) how may people will be attending. Please respond to this email/letter telling me how many will be attending. Your spouse/significant other, children and/or grandchildren, and potential new members of the club are all welcome to attend.

Directions: From Hwy 751 take Erwin Road west(toward Chapel Hill), make a right onto Mt. Sinai Road, and another right onto Kerley Road. Margie’s house is on the left — look for a white mailbox with yellow fish on it.

It’s going to be fun!

April 16th Meeting - Ronald McDonald House Info

Good morning. I can’t believe how quickly the spring is passing . . . and today it’s going to feel like summer.

I’m looking forward to seeing you at TROSA for lunch today.

We are confirmed for cooking dinner at the Ronald McDonald House on May 8. As it happens, their kitchen is being renovated and won’t be available for cooking. We will need to take food that has been prepared in a commercial kitchen. How about roasted chicken pieces and salads along with dessert from either Sam’s, Costco, or one of our local grocery stores? We will also need to tak plates, flatware, etc. Let’s talk about this project at today’s meeting.

Meeting - March 19

We have a full schedule for today’s meeting: two grant recipients will be present to receive their checks, Rita will introduce a speaker representing a new initiative supporting kids in Durham, and greetings will be brought to us by Carolinas District Lt. Gov. Tim Hucks. You will want to be there.

I believe the memorial service for Bob Weynand has been scheduled for Wednesday. We’ll have more information at the meeting today.
